I heart faces photo challenge | Let them be little

This week's photo challenge over at I Heart Faces is "Let them be little". I chose this image because I feel it's the perfect representation of a Mom looking at her new baby wanting to remember every detail and wishing she could keep her from growing up. It's crazy how quickly time goes by and as a Mom I know that I wished at different times that I could've flash froze them and kept them pint size forever. I Heart Faces Photo Contest. Theme is Pink! Howell, MI Children's Photographer

Just in case you are wondering if you are experiencing de ja vu, yes I've posted this picture and the story on here before. I'm now submitting this as my entry into a photo contest over at I Heart Faces. "The I Heart Faces community is made up of people from all over the world and all levels of photography!" I highly encourage you to head on over and join in the fun :) This week's theme is "pink" in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month so I knew I had to enter this photo, feel free to read below to learn why.

These decorations are what's left over from the "Pink Party". The Pink Party helps raise money for the Susan G. Komen foundation. The alley is beautiful so I decided to take my daughter up there for a quick shoot....I wanted to mix something a little edgy against the softness of the pink and the twinkling lights. We were just about to wrap it up when a motion sensored light came on, and just as it did she looked up into it and and I grabbed this shot. Looking at it now, I see a sweet little girl, who's growing up too quick. When she's all grown up, what will she be like? Will she have known someone who has battled breast cancer, will she have to battle it herself? I pray that by the time my little girl becomes a young woman, they will have already found a cure and that breast cancer will be a thing of the past. No Words... | Brighton, MI Maternity, Birthing and Newborn Photographer

I'm sitting here in her hospital room in the dark. The only light is that from my computer, and the only sound is from her finally sleeping soundly. I now have the time and the silence needed to write this post yet I'm struggling. It seems silly really. Why am I struggling about writing a post about my best friend? The truth is simple. I feel like no matter what I write, I will fail because I won't be able to paint the picture of just how wonderful Kirstynn really is. Truth be told...there are no words that could ever do my friend the justice that she truly deserves. Our friendship has definitely had it's fair share of ups and downs, but each experience has only helped shape the amazing relationship that we have today. Having a best friend is usually something you feel the need to hold onto forever, but in my case it's different. I don't have that need because I know it will always be there. Not that I take what we have for granted because I don't, I just know without a doubt that we were meant to be in each other's lives and what we have is solid and nothing can shake it. It's amazing to me that out of all of the people in this world, I was not only lucky enough to meet her but lucky enough to call her my best friend. What we have is rare and soulful. I have a piece of her soul and she has a piece of mine. She's my kindred spirit.

Kirstynn, thank you for being the most amazing friend that a girl could ever ask for. Thank you for laughing at my jokes when they aren't always funny. Thank you for being my cheerleader even when my ideas may seem a bit crazy. Thank you for knowing that I'm not ok even when I say I am and for being there even when I think I can deal with things on my own. Thank you for seeing things from my perspective even if they do seem a bit radical. Thank you for taking the time to know me, every part of me, sometimes even better than I know myself. Thank you for accepting me and making me feel like I'm one of the most important people in your world, but most importantly and I can't stress this enough, thank you for being you and thank you for being such a big part of me. You truly are a gift and I can't imagine my life without you. I love you!
